The Tax Indirect Specialist for Latin America will be responsible for for proposing support on Taxes in different Latin American countries, supporting the IDT Determination solution About the Role.
Represent Tax Research & Content effectively as LATAM tax subject matter expert/project point person to customers as well as business unit peers within Product Management, Development, Customer Support, Sales, and Professional Services.
Research, analyze, interpret and document tax laws and regulations across all LATAM, especially for Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Honduras.
Deep knowledge of Mexico tax rules regarding federal, province and municipal levels.
Expertise in retail, B2B, B2C operations and other segments for LATAM countries.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex tax issues.
Contributes to development and strategy for content expansion.
Model and implement support for new tax regimes.
Oversees the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of LATAM tax content.
Participates in process improvement initiatives.
Communicate and discuss tax concepts with tax professionals as well as non-tax professionals functioning as an indirect tax adviser internally and externally.
Lead content projects; planning and estimates, resourcing, detailed design requirements, tax engine expertise, implementation and rigorous quality assurance; assign tasks, track and monitor progress, report status.
Develop training materials and provide training on LATAM tax calculation and tax concepts.
About You.
Bachelor’s Degree in tax, accounting, and/or finance is required.
Experience working for Big4, tax legal firm or corporate tax department preferred.
Knowledge & Skills.
6+ years of indirect tax experience.
Four (4)+ years tax calculation and compliance software experience.
Written and spoken fluency in English.
Experience delivering solutions to customers for complex LATAM tax calculations.
Excellent knowledge and deep understanding of LATAM tax rules and regulations that impact tax calculation and compliance.
Deep tax analytical skills with the ability to determine the accurate tax decision with appropriate legal support.
Detail-oriented with an aptitude for analysis and problem-solving including ability to interpret, analyze and organize detailed legal material.
Superior written and verbal communication skills, including ability to write white papers on tax and/or technical subjects.
Ability to handle complex tax content projects in a multi-tasking environment, perform research, meet strict content deadlines and budgets.
Experience working closely with customer support, development and product management to meet and exceed the needs of a specific customer, group of customers or all customers.
Ability to put the customer at the center of content activities and decision-making, from supporting a tax jurisdiction legislation change to content implementation and delivery.
Conducts process/system audits and quality checks.
Adjusts and prioritizes work based upon changing needs to align with department objectives.
Desired Skills.
An understanding of how customers use ONESOURCE offerings and the impact of decisions on the customer’s tax compliance.
Problem-solver, highly creative and able to think innovatively to propose alternative content implementation solutions to resolve complex tax problems.
