Geotechnical Engineer Junior/Mid Level - We are actively looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Rio de Janeiro office. As part of the Geotechnical Group, the Geotechnical Engineer assesses and analyzes the ground on which buildings and other structures will be erected; examine soil, check underground water flow, and conduct other tests to ensure the stability of an area before construction begins. Examines the sites of proposed buildings or other structures, such as dams or tunnels, or those to be used for drilling or mining projects, to check soil stability and rock formationsConfirms the safety and durability of surfaces for building projects, design structural foundations, and conduct environmental testingConducts tests on items in a laboratory. They study properties, note any contaminations or other issues, and produce reports about their findings for project managersStudy safety quality standards for different projects and make sure that each project adheres to these standardsInspects foundations, observing drilling activities, and reviewing work plans are some of the ways geotechnical engineers ensure adherence to these standardsPresent possible project risks, explain seismic activities, make recommendations for foundations and excavation activities, and summarize the progress of individual projectsPerform geostructural analysis and design of waterfront structures, including bulkheads, deep foundations, retaining walls, and flood control structuresInterpret field test data (SPT, sCPT, FVST, DMT) and estimate soil engineering properties for designAssigns lab tests and interpret resultsEstimates deep foundation lateral and axial capacitiesDesigns bulkheads, retaining walls, and floodwallsDesigns wall structural components, including wales, tierods, tiebacks, cap beams, etc. Develops plans and specificationsHelp resolve design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a projectCalculates construction quantity estimatesWorks closely with other architects, engineers, scientists, project managers, etc. on multi-discipline projectsPerforms office-based construction administration including review of shop drawings and technical submittalsPerforms construction site inspections and prepare inspection reports Other duties: Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or relevant experience4+ years of experienceProfessional Engineer licensure in Brazil (CREA)Experience using and proficiency with the following geotechnical software package categories:Lateral pile analysis (ie: LPile, AllPile)Axial pile/drilled shaft analysis (ie: APile, AllPile, Driven, Shaft)Pile group analysis (ie: Group, AllPile)Slope stability (ie: Slope, Slide)Excavation support (ie: DeepEX, WALLAP, Support-IT, CT Shoring Suite)Finite element analysis (ie: Plaxis)Settlement (ie: Settle3, FoSSA, etc. )Strong understanding of ACI, AISC, AASHTO, IBC, NDS, and other design codesProficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
