Responsibilities Serve as an in-house source of technical expertise on the design, inspection, and repair of various major wind turbine mechanical components (e.
.
blade, hub, gearbox, coupling, generator, slew bearings, bedplate, tower, foundation, etc.).
Revise and improve techniques used for inspecting equipment (visual, audible, borescope, infrared, acoustic emission, ultrasonic, vibration, etc.).
Become familiar with equipment repair methods, assist with training of in-house repair teams and provide ongoing technical support.
Author detailed inspection and repair procedures, technical bulletins, and operating policy documents.
Review critical inspections and provide run / don’t run dispositions as well as monitoring and repair recommendations.
Consult with major component repair vendors and coordinate large repair campaigns.? Evaluate new third-party repair vendors for effectiveness.
Conduct root cause analysis investigations for major equipment issues and perform in-depth failure rate analysis for major components.
Lead pilot projects to evaluate new equipment, tools, or processes.
Support the end-of-warranty inspection process at wind farms.
