About the Role.
As the E Permits & Compliance Manager, you will provide environmental compliance leadership and permitting guidance to Brazilian locations (including JV).
This role focuses on ensuring locations have the proper governance in place to develop and implement new projects considering the best environmental practices, to obtain environmental licenses in a complete and timely manner, and to ensure that the locations have processes and procedures in place according to the applicable requirements and permit terms and conditions.
Other key responsibilities include.
Compliance focus areas Support the Regional E Director with the CapEx projects review and RDP process.
Support the Regional E Director on governance to conforming to laws, regulations and Alcoa's corporate policies and standards, covering permits, water, air, waste, chemical, impoundments, and others.
Conduct analyses and prepare advice on proposed Federal/State environmental regulations as needed.
Identify potentially applicable environmental headwinds, raising concerns and challenges to internal stakeholders for further attention in addition to supporting with compliance strategies.
Manage the region's internal environmental self-assessment process (ASAT), including legal registry process.
Support the Regional E Director with the incident and compliance case management process, including supporting the locations with the integration of compliance related CapEx needs into the long term plan.
Be responsible for follow up the actions needed to solve and close the compliance case open in the region.
Provide technical support to the locations during the environmental licensing processes and during the development of new projects, to ensure construction and operating permits are obtained in a timely manner.
Support the locations and represent Alcoa during meetings of strategic and/or critical permitting significance (environmental agencies, community, trade associations, etc).
Consulting support and training/development for locations Support the locations with reviewing environmental compliance management programs to verify adequate operational controls exist to sustain compliance.
Support the locations with the integration of compliance related tasks into the day to day work flow of operations Provide assessments of environmental compliance for joint ventures, potential acquisitions, and new project proposals.
Connect areas like Operations, Asset Management, CapEx, Procurement, Legal, Public Affairs and Social Areas to ensure the integration of environmental compliance strategies and needs.
Support the development of location capacity to ensure improvement in environmental compliance, and manage risks associated with these aspects to enhance Alcoa's reputation.
Support the review and follow up on ORM process related the environmental risks.
Support the development of location capacity to ensure the ASI, ISO and other certifications and other special programs such as LCAs and ESG programs.
Identify and facilitate the sharing of compliance solutions and best practices among the region, and global operations.
What you can bring to the role.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or Environmental Sciences; Fluent English; Solid experience in environmental management and/or compliance role; Extensive and in-depth knowledge about the Environmental Brazilian Legislation; Previous experience in a heavy industrial/manufacturing/mining and/or regulatory environment.
Domestic Travel – %, potential for international travel; Job Location – Negotiable, but within Brazil.
